Mahalakshmi Foundation's 'Saranalayam' or the 'Abode of refuge' is a loving home that offers comprehensive residential care to orphaned, homeless and single parent children. In many ways, Saranalayam is the origin of Mahalakshmi Foundation's work.

How do children come to Mahalakshmi Foundation's Saranalayam?

The children are referred to Mahalakshmi Foundation by the Social Welfare Department, police outposts, other Ngos, the local public, donors or other people.

Admission Procedure

We follow a strict procedure for admitting each child and each request is usually accompanied by a reference letter. We then verify all the available documents such as death certificates of parents, income certificate , ration card and the school transfer certificate or birth certificate of the children. We then do an initial physical and medical check up and obtain photos of each child for preparing an admission form, identity card and register maintenance.
